Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from her household, the actress was raised to maturity by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. She suffered from an anxiety disorder based on word associations as a young child. Ford began to become fascinated by acting during her teenage years and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. She gained admission to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she wasn't a good choice for this school. Ford instead applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama and was able to secure the position on her 4th attempt. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character for Doctor Who. Ford received her degree in 1993. However, prior to that, Ford made a television debut when she appeared as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode in 1991. Ford took the professional name Catherine Tate. Tate appeared in TV shows such including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London Burning. She also worked regularly at the theater, ultimately being a part of in the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate started to get noticed due to her stand-up comedy in the year 1996.
